Final thoughts from District Governor, Gary Chenoweth    “Time flies when you are having fun”, this was the case with me during this past year serving as District Governor.  I truly enjoyed the experience!  District 6290 has a strong base of leaders starting with Club Presidents, 15 District Officers and Directors, 13 Assistant Governors, and our wonderful CAO, Kathy Hegedus.   I sincerely appreciate all of them, plus Elk Rapids Rotarians, for their assistance and support during 2021-2022.   Following are two key strategies that I would recommend D6290 clubs continue to use during future years: 1) Each One, Bring One!  I don’t think there is a better membership growth strategy. In addition, encourage potential member(s) to commit to 3 Rotary experiences: General Meeting, Club Social and Service Project.    2) Develop and Maintain an Effective Club Public Image Profile!  This will make growing membership and fundraising so much easier.  Note: For the last several years, D6290 has been operating without a District PI Chair. During this year, position was filled with Terry Miller, an Elk Rapids Rotarian with valuable years of Public Image Development experience.  Terry can be emailed at  elkrapidslive@live.com  if you have questions and/or need assistance.   There is one more D6290 activity that I will be participating in before passing the District Governor baton, the June 25 Jump-for-Polio fundraiser at Sky Dive Grand Haven, MI.   If your club does not have a J4P participant, please consider financially supporting event’s Grand Marshall Dick Grout  https://raise.rotary.org/Dick-Grout/fundraiser.   Not too many Global Rotary Clubs have a 101-year-old member who has, and will again, jump out of a plane from 10,000 feet to raise funds for Polio Eradication!   Starting July 1, 2022, I will be trading in my District Governor’s hat for a hat representing the District Foundation Chair 2022-2025.  So, my  District 6290 Rotary journey will continue.   In closing, I feel very blessed and honored to represent District as the 2021-2022 Rotary Governor.  God Bless Rotary District 6290!   Sincerely, Gary E Chenoweth D6290 Governor 2021-2022 Elk Rapids Rotarian  Add text here
